University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy delivers his welcome message, emphasizing CPUĢƵs mission of providing education grounded in Scientia et FidesĢƵKnowledge and Faith, during the orientation program for parents of new college students for SY 2025ĢƵ2026.
ĢƵ (CPU) held a successful orientation program for parents and guardians of new college students for SY 2025ĢƵ2026 on August 9, 2025, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium. The event aimed to equip parents with essential information and practical guidance to help them navigate their childrenĢƵs college journey while fostering open communication and collaboration between families and the University.
The program opened with a prayer and devotional led by Pastor Neva Grace Fabila, Associate Pastor for Campus Ministry followed by the singing of the national anthem and the CPU Alma Mater song.
University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy formally welcomed the attendees, expressing gratitude for their presence and trust in the University. In his message, he emphasized the shared mission of shaping students through an education rooted in Scientia et FidesĢƵKnowledge and Faith. He outlined the orientationĢƵs goals: to familiarize parents with CPUĢƵs rules, regulations, and policies; to introduce the functions of the Vice PresidentsĢƵ offices; and to deepen understanding of the UniversityĢƵs mission, vision, and values.
Prof. Eunice G. Alayon, Guidance Counselor for the College of Hospitality Management and Respiratory Therapy, shares ĢƵFive Ways Parents Can Support Their College StudentĢƵs SuccessĢƵ during the CPU orientation program for parents of new college students for SY 2025ĢƵ2026.
ĢƵYou have entrusted us with these young lives, and our mission is to support and train them so that, when they leave the halls of this institution, they will bear the mark of an education grounded on Knowledge and Faith,ĢƵ he said, also sharing words of encouragement from Proverbs 3:5ĢƵ6 and Jeremiah 29:11ĢƵ13.
A recorded video presentation provided an overview of the offices of the University President, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension, Vice President for Administration, Vice President for Finance and Enterprises, and Vice President for Student Affairs, giving parents a clear picture of CPUĢƵs organizational structure and operations.
Parents engage in the open forum session, asking questions and seeking clarifications from CPU administrators during the orientation program for new college studentsĢƵ families for SY 2025ĢƵ2026.
Prof. Eunice G. Alayon, Guidance Counselor for the College of Hospitality Management and Respiratory Therapy, shared ĢƵFive Ways Parents Can Support Their College StudentĢƵs Success.ĢƵ These included: staying connected without hovering; giving students space to fail and learn; teaching budgeting and money management; recognizing warning signs of mental health concerns; and praying for and encouraging their children. She underscored the importance of supporting not only academic performance but also overall well-being, highlighting CPUĢƵs Homeroom Guidance program, which addresses life skills, financial literacy, and mental health awareness.
The orientation concluded with an open forum, allowing parents and guardians to ask questions and seek clarifications from CPU administrators.
This yearĢƵs orientation served as a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between CPU and the parents of new college students, ensuring a smooth transition for the students and fostering a supportive environment for their academic success.
