ĢƵTrust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.ĢƵ (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)

Celebrating CHEDĢƵs announcement that ĢƵ has been granted Autonomous Status during the Weekly Devotional and Execom Meeting, together with Engr. Dany Molina, VP for Administration, Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate; VP for Student Affairs; Dr. Florence Bogacia, VP for Finance and Enterprises; and Dr. Irving Domingo Rio, VP for Academic Affairs.

Dear Centralian family,

I am happy to announce that ĢƵ (CPU) has been officially granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), with validity from September 16, 2024 to September 15, 2027. This prestigious recognition serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development through Christian education. This milestone marks a new chapter in our continuing journey, and I am confident that we will reach even higher levels of success. I express my gratitude to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) led by Dr. Prospero De Vera for this recognition, and to the entire Centralian community for rallying together to accomplish this goal.  By the grace of God, we made it.  To Him be the highest glory!

ĢƵ, designated as a local testing center for the 2024 Bar Examinations, successfully hosted the exams on September 8, 11, and 15. Over the course of these three days, the University accommodated 582 examinees from different law schools in the region. This achievement not only reflects our commitment to providing a supportive environment for future legal professionals, but also celebrates the collective effort of the CPU Bar Exam Committee 2024, Iloilo City Government, CPU-College of Law Faculty and Staff, CPU-College of Law Senior Order of Kalantiao, and the entire Centralian community.  The experience of hosting the bar examinations has offered us crucial insights and learning opportunities that will enhance our ensuing initiatives.  To our Centralian bar examinees, remember you’re not on this journey alone ĢƵ we stand firmly behind you and are truly proud of your dedication to your chosen career path. We lift you up in prayer, especially as you await your bar results.

I take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on The Central Echo, the official student publication of this University. The Central Echo has long been a beacon of the dynamism of our students and the vitality of the academic community.  Its success can be attributed to the dedicated staff and their outstanding advisers, Prof. Rea Angelica F. Villeza and Mr. Ron Adrian Dionaldo.  I urge everyone to find time to read and appreciate the work presented in this publication. They do not only provide a platform for students to develop and refine their journalistic skills but also foster a culture of dialogue and constructive engagement.

Let me draw attention to another vital aspect of the Centralian community: the plethora of events, ranging from musical performances and cultural celebrations, that enliven our spirits and provide a vibrant environment for everyone. This coming November, CPU will re-stage the musicale HOPEVALE: MEMORIES OF MISSIONS AND MARTYRS.  Matinee and gala shows are open for students, faculty and staff, alumni, and special guests to enjoy.  These cultural and artistic experiences make our University truly exceptional.

Finally, join us for the Foundation Day celebration on October 1, and the Alumni Homecoming on October 12.  During the Foundation Day, we will highlight CPUĢƵs rich history which is essentially linked to the American Baptist Missionary Movement, as well as its accomplishments all throughout the years. On the other hand, the Alumni Homecoming & General Assembly will feature the ĢƵLegacy of Centralian Excellence: Celebrating CPUĢƵs Work Students, Varsity Players, and Musicians.ĢƵ Your participation in these festivities is very much appreciated ĢƵ even as we celebrate our collective journey and envision brighter days for our Alma Mater.

Let us honor the past, engage the present, and embrace the future with excitement and optimism.

Alongside the Faculty and Staff of the CPU College of Business and Accountancy, who are proudly recognized as one of the awardees of this year’s Pagdayaw 2024 Quality Awards.

Dear Centralian family,

Classes for the first semester of the school year 2024-2025 had already commenced and I am delighted to welcome the transferees, as well as the new and returning students to the campus.  As we embark on this new school year together, let us do so with a sense of purpose and a spirit of optimism. We will navigate the challenges, celebrate the triumphs that lie ahead, and instill in our students the value of Exemplary Christian Education for Life (EXCEL).

I also welcome all the foreign students who are joining the Centralian community. At CPU, we believe that education is a global endeavor, enriched by the vibrant tapestry of backgrounds and viewpoints that each individual contributes. We recognize that arriving in a new country and adapting to a different educational system can present challenges, but at CPU, we are cultivating a community where cultural exchange and mutual understanding thrive.

As part of the UniversityĢƵs ongoing commitment to fostering international collaboration and enhancing educational opportunities, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian Institute of Higher Education at the Henry Luce III Knowledge and Development Center on August 13, 2024. This partnership will enrich our academic programs, expand research initiatives, and create new pathways for innovation and global engagement.

One of the cornerstones of CPU is the development of our faculty and staff, who are the driving force behind our institutionĢƵs success and impact. Their growth, both personally and professionally, is important to building a remarkable environment for learning. The strength of our institution lies in their dedication and passion.  By investing in their professional development, we are not only enhancing their capabilities but also ensuring that our institution remains at the forefront of delivering quality higher education.

Last August 28, we successfully conducted the Faculty and Staff Conference.  Held at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, the event became an avenue for exchanging ideas to foster dialogue, inspire innovation, and strengthen our bonds as a community. It also served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of our colleagues during the Pagdayaw 2024 Quality Awards. Spearheaded by the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center, we recognized 29 awardees for their outstanding performance, exemplifying excellence in their operations. There were four awards given namely:

  1. CPU Seal of Good Housekeeping: Awarded to the School of Graduate Studies for having zero non-conformities (NCs) and opportunities for improvement (OFIs) during the internal audit for the Academic Year 2023-2024.
  2. Special Citation for Quality International Initiatives: Honored the College of Education, College of Engineering, and College of Hospitality Management for organizing and facilitating the highest number of outbound student mobility activities during the Academic Year 2023-2024, as documented by the Local and International Linkages and Affiliations Center (LILAC).
  3. Program Quality Award: Granted to academic programs that have successfully undergone accreditation during the Academic Year 2023-2024.
  4. Model Program Quality Award: Presented to academic programs that have achieved Level 4 accreditation or the highest possible level of accreditation. Awardees received both a Plaque of Recognition and a cash prize of P20,000.00.

Congratulations to all the Pagdayaw 2024 Quality Award recipients. The success of our University is built upon the contributions of each member of our community.

Let us work together and also motivate one another as we continue to achieve new heights for Central.

ĢƵTrust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.ĢƵ (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)

On July 30, we had a renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SM City Iloilo held at the SM City Mandurriao Activity Center.

Dear Centralian family,

We are delighted to announce that Atty. Peter C. Corvera, Chairman of the CPU Board of Trustees, has been appointed as the Undersecretary of the Department of Education (DepEd). To Atty. Corvera, thank you for your invaluable and sterling service to your Alma Mater. You will be missed here at Central, but you have been tasked with serving our country in a much higher capacity. CPU is proud of you, we support you, and we are praying for the impact you will undoubtedly make in this new chapter of your journey.

Last summer, CPU athletes participated in two major sports events: the 2024 Palarong Pambansa that took place in the ĢƵQueen City of the South,ĢƵ Cebu City, from July 9 to 16 and the 2024 National PRISAA Games held in Legazpi City from July 20 to 26. ItĢƵs worth noting that many who represented Western Visayas in both events, including coaches and trainers were Centralians. We were crowned champions during the National PRISAA Games 2024 across the following categories: volleyball tertiary women; softball tertiary women; chess tertiary women; chess secondary girls; secondary girls poomsae; table tennis secondary boys and girls (team event); table tennis tertiary men (team event); 3×3 basketball secondary girls; basketball tertiary women; and football tertiary men. Once again, congratulations to all our athletes, coaches, and trainers. We celebrate with you.

I would like to take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on one of our campus organizations: the CPU Symphonic Band. Over the years, their performances have captivated audiences and showcased the depth of their talents and skills. They have not only brought honor to our community but have also enriched our musical life. We look forward to many more years of beautiful music and wish them continued success.

Collaboration has always been a cornerstone of CPUĢƵs progress, as we remain dedicated to deepening partnerships that will enrich our academic programs, enhance research opportunities, and create real-world impacts. On July 30, 2024, we renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SM City Iloilo. The signing took place at the SM City Mandurriao Activity Center and was attended by the companyĢƵs top executives and managers. The said memorandum is in effect for three years, ensuring a long-term partnership between SM and CPU. We are proud to say that our University has been continuously chosen by SM City as an academic partner, which is a testament to the outstanding performance of Centralian students during their on-the-job trainings there.

On July 31, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Philippines officially announced the local testing centers for the upcoming 2024 bar examinations through the Office of the Bar Chairperson. The Supreme Court established 6 LTCs in the National Capital Region (NCR), 2 LTCs in Luzon, 2 LTCs in Mindanao, and 3 LTCs in the Visayas, including ĢƵ. This year marks the second time that our University has taken on this significant role, reflecting its commitment to supporting the legal community. We are deeply honored and grateful that CPU has once again been chosen as one of the local testing centers in the region. We are committed to playing a key role in the bar examination process, thereby contributing to the advancement of the legal profession.

We are expanding our global research network through strategic partnerships with other institutions, particularly in the Asian region. On July 31, 2024, we had an online launch of an international research collaboration with Tra Vinh University in Vietnam. One of my long-term plans as President of CPU is to increase our research capabilities. I am excited that we are taking a step in the right direction through this research collaboration. International collaboration builds bridges with other institutions and paves the way for a more integrated pursuit of academic excellence.

Just last week, I met with Lee Plagata, President of ĢƵ Federation of Overseas Alumni Association (CPUFOAA). In that meeting, we agreed to strengthen the relationship between CPU and its alumni around the world. We also discussed the many ways we can enhance our engagement to foster a more connected and supportive alumni network. In line with this, I would like to invite Centralians around the globe to our upcoming 12th Alumni Global Reunion in Toronto, Canada. This event, set to take place on July 10ĢƵ13, 2025, promises to be a momentous occasion, as we gather in the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Center to reminisce our days at Central, celebrate the remarkable legacy we share, and dream big about the future.

As we look ahead, may the Central Spirit lead us onward ĢƵ for the betterment of our Alma Mater and for GodĢƵs glory and praise!

Attendees during the Heads of Institutional Strategy Summit in Singapore on July 15-19, 2024.

Dear Centralian family,

In underscoring the UniversityĢƵs commitment to leadership in higher education, I attended the Heads of Institution Strategy Summit jointly sponsored by the United Board for Christian Education in Asia (UBCHEA) and Singapore Management University in Singapore on July 15ĢƵ19, 2024. This summit gathered 27 top university leaders across Asia, where we discussed academic strategies through the exchanging of ideas on the evolving landscape of higher education. Guided by the theme ĢƵEmpowering Higher Education in Asia,ĢƵ the event focused on the critical trends and challenges facing institutions today. We engaged in discussions on Key Trends and Challenges – Preparing for Tomorrow, Leading TransformationԻInnovation, and Leading the Organization.  The topic Making Transformation Happen highlighted the necessary steps that we must practice and implement in relation to the strategic initiatives of our respective institutions.  The week ended with a topic focusing on Making It Happen, where we were able to summarize and consolidate what we have learned throughout the summit. CPUĢƵs participation in such high-level discussions reflects our desire to be at the forefront of educational excellence and innovation in the region and beyond.

As we reflect on the recent commencement exercises for the CPU-College of Law and the CPU-College of Medicine, we are filled with gratitude. These events represent significant milestones in the ongoing journey of our University as evidenced by the conferral of 31 Juris Doctor degrees and 70 Doctor of Medicine degrees. I express my deepest thanks to our esteemed faculty and staff for your unwavering support and guidance in shaping the lives of our Centralian graduates. Also, to the graduating classes of both colleges, always remember that your commitment to excellence, your perseverance, and your faith in God have brought you to these remarkable moments.  We are proud of you.  The world awaits your contributions, and I am confident that you will bring the same level of passion and diligence you have learned here at Central. Finally, I would like to acknowledge our distinguished commencement speakers, who made these exercises memorable. To Justice Maria Filomena D. Singh, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, your willingness to share your time, insights, and stories with us speaks volumes about your commitment to fostering the next generation of legal professionals. To Rev. Dr. Limuel R. Equiña, Executive Director of the Association for Theological Education in Southeast Asia, and Dr. Leilanie A. Nicodemus, MD, FPAFP, MSCM, thank you for inspiring and motivating our graduates. Your impact on their lives is immeasurable, and once again we are grateful for your contribution to this special occasion.

On July 22, we took a significant step towards building a disaster-resilient campus and community by hosting a lecture-workshop held at the Educational Media Center Conference Room. The event, themed ĢƵBantayog ng Katatagan at ang Pagbubuklod sa Layuning Kahandaan,ĢƵ is part of a month-long observance aimed at enhancing the countryĢƵs preparedness and resilience when natural disasters and calamities occur.  Our goal is to position CPU as a center of excellence in disaster resilience, working closely with government and private institutions.

Aside from initiatives towards resiliency, we are also committed to setting an example for other educational institutions and contributing to broader environmental conservation efforts. On July 23, we signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) together with the Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, Inc. for Project AGUBAY (Awareness, Guidance, Unity, Biodiversity, Action, Yield). This serves as another significant step in our efforts to enhance solid waste management on campus and in our local communities. I encourage the Centralian community to embrace and actively participate in the future programs and activities of Project AGUBAY. Let us work towards excellence in every aspect of our mission, always keeping sustainability at the forefront of our efforts for a cleaner and greener future.

As we continue to explore, learn, and grow, let us hold fast to the core values of Faith, Character, Justice, Stewardship, Excellence and embrace the journey ahead.

Together with this year’s University Fun Day overall champion, Team Pink.

Dear Centralian family,

I am particularly proud of our CPU tertiary football players, for they have demonstrated that with passion and determination, anything is achievable in every game they have played. Beyond their athletic prowess, our soccer team embodies the Central Spirit that defines our University. Together with Bob Rommel J. Javellana, RMT, their head coach, their accomplishments have brought great pride to the University, and we look forward to witnessing their continued success.

As we embark on a new academic year, we are committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities to our Centralian community. The enrollment for the upcoming first semester has officially started on June 24, 2024, offering both online and in-person registration for flexibility and efficiency. Continuing students should log in to their CPU SOS account for subject pre-enlistment.

The gradual return to the old school calendar for SY 2024ĢƵ2025 would mark a significant transition for our University. I am confident that these changes are vital to our pursuit of academic excellence while ensuring everyoneĢƵs safety against extreme heat. In line with this, we are also extending our warmest congratulations to Sen. Juan Edgardo ‘Sonny’ Angara for having been appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd). We look forward to working closely with him in the years ahead.

On behalf of the Centralian community, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the generosity and commitment of CPUĢƵs Work Students alumni, which they have demonstrated through their continued support of the UniversityĢƵs programs. This act extends beyond financial contributions ĢƵ a testament to the enduring spirit of service.

Last July 12, we celebrated University Fun Day 2024 with the theme ĢƵTeamwork, Camaraderie, and Healthy Competition among Colleagues.ĢƵ Activities included the dance parade, dance presentation, and games spearheaded by the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO). It provided a well-deserved opportunity for our employees to unwind, connect with colleagues from across departments, and recharge their spirits. I thank the organizing committee for planning and spearheading the event. I also want to thank each and every faculty member and staff member. Your enthusiastic participation contributed significantly to the vibrant atmosphere and reaffirmed the sense of community that defines our University.

Together, let us strive for excellence and inspire one another to reach new heights even as we continue to value the intersection of Scientia et Fides.

During the ISO Surveillance Audit held at the Henry Luce III Library on July 3,2024.

Dear Centralian family,

CPU has successfully retained its ISO 9001:2015 certification, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining high standards in education and operational excellence. The audit, conducted from July 1 to 3, 2024, by Certification International Philippines (CIP), verified the University’s adherence to ISO Surveillance Audit standards, which encompass rigorous requirements for quality management systems. The successful completion of the said audit underscores CPU’s efforts to continuously improve its operations to better serve its students, faculty and staff, alumni, and other stakeholders.

On July 14ĢƵ20, I will be attending the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA) Heads of Institution Strategy Summit in Singapore. Co-organized by UBCHEA and Singapore Management University, this summit provides the opportunity for heads of institutions in Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Myanmar with total 30 participants) to discuss and design a unique and impactful program that will advance Christian higher education leadership excellence in Asia. CPUĢƵs representation at this summit signals our commitment to international engagement and collaboration, which can improve our linkages with partner institutions in the region.

As the CPU Golden Lions athletes embark on their journey to represent our University in the Palarong Pambansa in Cebu City and the National PRISAA in Legazpi City, let us stand by them, knowing that they carry the Central Spirit as they participate in these national events. To our athletes, remember to compete with determination, and may your efforts shine brightly ĢƵ bringing glory not only to yourselves but also to our Alma Mater. Also, we are grateful for the generosity of Centralians who are helping our athletes in any way they can.

Imagine a space where the vibrant history of our University and its profound impact on society are meticulously preserved, curated, and showcased. As an update, initial conversations have already commenced with regards to the establishment of CPU’s historical museum. The museum will house a treasure trove of memorabilia, artifacts, literature produced by renowned Ilonggo authors, Hinilawod epic chant recordings, Ninfa Querubin’s artworks, rare collections of World War II documents, 40,000+ United Nations documents, Meyer-Asian collection, Food and Agriculture Organization and Elizabeth Knox Sacred Music collection, Nursing collection, and many others. Remembering the past will help us look into the future with confidence and excitement.

CPU celebrates the promotion of Major General Luis Rex D. Bergante to a three-star General Officer rank. His promotion serves as a source of pride and inspiration for the entire Centralian community. It underscores the effectiveness of our educational programs in nurturing individuals who can thrive in their respective fields. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Lieutenant General Luis Rex D. Bergante, PA (Commander, EASTMINCOM, AFP) for this achievement. We look forward to witnessing your continued success and the positive impact you will undoubtedly have on your work and beyond.

With the underpinning of Scientia et Fides and great determination, we can achieve anything we set our minds to ĢƵ all for the glory of God.

The Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awards (TOSIA) Salute to Excellence held at Robinsons Place Pavia on June 22, 2024.

Dear Centralian family,

It is with immense joy that I congratulate each and every one for the success of our 96th Commencement Exercises of the UniversityĢƵs Colleges held at the University Gymnasium on June 23. The ceremony’s highlight was the conferring of diplomas to over 2,226 graduates, with 584 receiving Latin honors. Also, I would like to extend my appreciation to the people who worked hard to make the event a memorable one ĢƵ from the Commencement Exercises Committee; Facilities Management, Electrical and Mechanical Systems, Buildings and Grounds Personnel; Office of Communications; Office of the President; Offices of the Vice-President for Administration, Finance and Enterprises, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs; Office of the Registrar; University Church; Security Office, Medical and Dental Clinics; College Deans and Department Heads; Faculty and Staff; Community Partners, and many others. Your behind-the-scenes efforts ensured that every part of the event was seamlessly executed. Your dedication and professionalism are the bedrock upon which our University stands.

Last June 24-25, CPU hosted a two-day training on Effective Document Control based on ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and Effective Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action in an ISO 9001:2015 QMS. This event was attended by ISO trainer/consultant, Ms. Cynthia R. Ramirez, as well as officials from government agencies, educational institutions, and hospitals located in Samar, Cebu, Ormoc City, Pampanga, and Cagayan de Oro. We are grateful to our CPU Review, Continuing Education and Consultancy Center (RCECC), and the Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) for hosting the said event. We place a high premium on quality, and we will always strive to be known for it.

On June 28, we conferred a total of 153 graduates from the School of Graduate Studies. We have students from countries such as China, Indonesia, and Vietnam, who chose to pursue further studies here at Central. Reflecting the diverse and inclusive nature of the CPUĢƵs School of Graduate Studies, the graduating class of 2024 represented varied backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.

As most of our commencement activities have concluded, CPU launched its summer classes for this year. We are happy to announce that we have a total of 4,623 enrollees from various programs. As we believe that learning should be a continuous and enriching experience, regardless of the season, CPU remains committed to equip students for success in their academic and professional journeys.

Congratulations to our Centralians who excelled in The Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awards (TOSIA) 2024. They are graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences, namely Anthony B. Lorca (Social Work), Jennifer Erika P. Angeles (Social Work), and Gazelle Faith G. Boko (Psychology), together with Robby Marvyn R. Arnillo from the Junior High School Department. Out of the 10 TOSIA awardees from the tertiary level and 12 awardees from the high school level, Angeles was included in the TOSIA Top Circle of 5, while Arnillo also secured the same spot for the junior high school category. Once again, ĢƵ has produced students whose academic excellence, leadership, community involvement, and faith in God are worth noting. We are so proud of you!

Let us carry forward the Central Spirit that defines our University. Together, we will navigate the challenges ahead with tenacity and creativity.

ĢƵTrust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.ĢƵ (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)

During the 96th Graduation of the University Colleges held at the University Gymnasium on June 23, 2024.

Dear Centralian family,

As part of our effort to stay at the forefront of higher education, we attended the 62nd National Convention of the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU) held at the Adventist University of the Philippines in Silang, Cavite. Anchored with the theme, ĢƵINNOVATING CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: Navigating Challenges, Embracing Opportunities,ĢƵ the 3-day convention was hosted by ACSCU National Capital Region and South Luzon schools.  We are encouraged to explore innovative approaches, methods, and technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement within the context of Christian education.

It brings me great joy and pride that CPU has once again solidified its rankings in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings as it secured seven Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. This year, THE Impact Rankings evaluated 2,152 universities from 125 countries, and CPU was ranked in seven areas namely, SDG 1 (No poverty): 801 ĢƵ 1000, SDG 2 (Zero hunger): 601 ĢƵ 800, SDG 3 (Good health and well-being): 801-1000, SDG 4 (Quality education): 1501+, SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities): 601- 800, SDG 16 (Peace, justice, and strong institutions): 801 -1000, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals): 1501+. This achievement is not an end in itself but rather a milestone on our continuous journey of growth and improvement. As we celebrate this success, let us also reaffirm our commitment to excellence in all aspects of our work.

On June 12-16, the Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet 2024 was held in San Jose, Antique, where over 1,300 coaches and student-athletes from 45 private schools participated. ItĢƵs worth noting that many of the WVPRISAA athletes, including coaches and trainers, came from ĢƵ. Centralian athletes have showcased their exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship, securing numerous victories across the following categories: Softball Tertiary Women ĢƵ Champion, Sepak Takraw Tertiary Men ĢƵ Champion, Badminton Tertiary Men ĢƵ Champion, Tennis Tertiary Men ĢƵ Champion, Table Tennis Tertiary Men & Women ĢƵ Champion, Table Tennis Secondary Boys & Girls ĢƵ Champion, Taekwondo Secondary Boys & Girls ĢƵ Champion, Basketball 3×3 Secondary Girls ĢƵ Champion, Taekwondo Tertiary Men ĢƵ Champion, Tennis Secondary Boys & Girls ĢƵ Champion, Chess Tertiary & Secondary ĢƵ Champion, Volleyball Tertiary Men & Women ĢƵ Champion, Swimming Secondary Girls ĢƵ Champion, and Basketball Tertiary Men ĢƵ Champion. I congratulate all our Centralian athletes and coaches. Your achievements have brought immense honor to your Alma Mater.

In a historic moment for CPU, our Football Elementary Boys has clinched the coveted Community League in Cambodia (under 10 and under 12 category) held at the Siem Reap, Cambodia. During their international trip, they did not only participate in soccer tournaments but also undertook several outreach work. Together with their head coach, Rizel James ĢƵBongbongĢƵ Rafols, the teamĢƵs experiences serve as a testament to the power of sports to transcend boundaries. At their young age, they inspired their fellow Centralian athletes to dream big, to believe in themselves, and to never give up on their goals.

I am delighted to share the news that the CPU Tumandok Dance Company’s “Saludo” concert has been applauded at Hashimoto City, Wakayama Prefecture, Osaka, Japan. They have also visited two schools in Japan for cultural presentations, dance performances, and workshops. Additionally, they got featured in the NHK, a Japanese broadcasting company. Their performances brought recognition to our institution. Our goal is to continue nurturing creativity, promoting cultural exchange, and achieving even greater heights in the future through international linkages.

Praise God for the success of our 96th Commencement Exercises of the UniversityĢƵs Colleges held at the University Gymnasium last June 23.  That special event served as a time of joy and celebration, marking the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our students. It was a momentous occasion not only for our graduates but for their families, friends, and the entire Centralian community.

Let us continue to build bridges, not walls, and work hand in hand to create a better Central.

Dear Centralian family,

On June 5, 2024, we had a conference about ĢƵEmbracing QS Ranking for Institutional Development & Stability: No Turning BackĢƵ held at the Conference Hall, Henry Luce III Library. Holding this conference to address several issues related to the QS Rankings is a step in the right direction. We still have a long way to go and so many things to do. However, we will not be deterred and by the grace of God, we hope to be in a sweet spot next year and the years following. We aim for a better Central as we continue to pursue Exemplary Christian Education for Life (EXCEL).

The importance of forging partnerships between universities and local areas does not only enrich the academic experience but also plays a crucial role in addressing societal challenges, fostering sustainable development, and cultivating communities that are grounded in compassion, empathy, and shared values. On June 6, the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center, headed by Prof. Sarex Dalida Dipol, Jr., Acting Director, organized the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with local government units and schools. We continue to build bridges so that we can work hand in hand with the people in the community and develop deep friendships that will last for a long time.

The CPU WomenĢƵs Softball Team, coached by Pastor Kim B. Dela Cruz, has not only clinched the championship during the ILOPRISAA MEET 2024 but has also demonstrated their academic prowess by successfully passing the board examinations. Seventeen former athletes are now Licensed Professional Teachers and Registered Social Workers. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each member of our womenĢƵs softball team and to Pastor Kim for using this avenue to embody the wholistic values that we strive to instill in our students here at Central.

I want to highlight the positive impact of our alumni to the University. Their unwavering support and generous contributions especially to our scholarship programs have not only transformed lives but have also strengthened the very foundation of our institution. On May 13, the CPUAA KSA-Riyadh Chapter handed over their donation to the UniversityĢƵs grants-in-aid program for deserving students. Recently, the CPUAA UAE Chapter also donated additional funds for the same program. These donations represent a lifeline for Centralian students facing financial hardships, allowing them to pursue higher education and their aspirations with confidence, perseverance, and determination.

As we bid farewell to another academic term, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude. With the conclusion of classes, we not only mark the end of a chapter but also celebrate the countless achievements and milestones attained throughout the year. At this juncture, we are given a precious opportunity to pause, rest, reflect, and reconnect with what matters mostĢƵour families. I encourage each member of the University community to prioritize their well-being and carve out moments to cherish with them.

Let us dream big ĢƵ for it is through a bold vision and a resolute drive for excellence that we make CPU a place where everyone can grow, thrive, learn, and succeed.

ĢƵTrust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.ĢƵ (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)

CPU administrators and officials received awards during the 3rd CHED Regional Quality Awards held at the Urdaneta Hall of the University of San Agustin on May 29, 2024.

Dear Centralian family,

Greetings!

As guardians of culture and tradition, we hold a profound responsibility to preserve and celebrate our invaluable treasure trove of historical collections. The Hinilawod Epic Chant Recordings, housed in the Henry Luce III Library of ĢƵ, have been officially inscribed to the UNESCO Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific (MOWCAP) Regional Register during the 10th MOWCAP General Meeting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on May 8. We commit to promote these historical collections, even as we also embrace our role in shaping the collective Centralian identity and inspiring future generations. UNESCOĢƵs recognition of the Hinilawod Epic Chant Recordings shows that itĢƵs about time to dream of a CPU historical museum.

The pursuit of understanding our collective identity as an institution continues. There is a unique avenue through which we can delve into the annals of history and experience its richness in a profoundly emotive mannerĢƵthrough music. The Hopevale Musicale tells our story, in which lie ĢƵthe echoes of triumphs and tribulations, revolutions and revelations.ĢƵ Woven intricately into the fabric of our collective past, it rekindles our affinity for and deep appreciation of the American Baptist missionary movement. I am excited to inform you that this musicale will be re-staged here at CPU towards the end of the year.

On May 29, the 3rd Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Quality Awards was held at the Urdaneta Hall of the University of San Agustin. CPU received 5 awards namely: Model Implementer Award for Registrar’s Records, Award for Excellence in NSTP, Award for Excellence in Internationalization Initiatives, Certificate of Recognition for the institution’s support to CHEDRO VI, and a plaque of recognition for being the 8th Top Performing School in the May 2024 Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination (CheLE) with a rating of 80.0%. Being recognized by CHEDRO VI in these five areas reaffirms our commitment to excellence and underscores the hard work and dedication of the entire Centralian community. We will not rest on our laurels so that other areas we have missed will be recognized in the next Regional Quality Awards.

It is with great delight that I share with you the remarkable achievements of one of our esteemed alumni. Dr. Manny Palada has been appointed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as Country Director of the Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Program/Agricultural Leaders of Tomorrow Program. As a community, we celebrate Dr. PaladaĢƵs success. His experience when he was a student at CPU is a testament to the transformative impact of our wholistic approach to education, where we value the intersection of Scientia et Fides.

In our journey towards Exemplary Christian Education for Life (EXCEL), I am reminded of the fundamental importance of fostering a culture of inclusivity within our institution. Our faith tradition will spur us to cultivate a community where all individuals feel a sense of belonging. There will be clear-cut policies that will foster a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding and where every Centralian feels valued and empowered to reach his or her full potential.

On behalf of the entire University community, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, the graduating class of 2024. Your achievements stand as a testament to your unwavering commitment to excellence and your indomitable spirit in the face of challenges. Today, we celebrate not only your academic milestones but also the personal growth, resilience, and determination that have shaped your journey. You are now well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the world and to make a positive impact in your chosen fields of endeavor. Congratulations once again. We are proud of you!

Together, let us cultivate an environment where every voice is heard, every idea is valued, and every dream is nurtured.
